Windows XP Service Pack 2 is known to mess up older software programs and hardware, so be aware of that before installing it.

1) When using your mouse, try right clicking to get to menus on information.

2) Instead of turning off computer everyday, try putting it on standby. Many computers save all info and it is a quick boot.

3) If computer will not shut off, hold in power key. After about 10 seconds this will cause the computer to shut off.

4) Windows Xp has a recovery point you can set. Too restore your computer to an earlier time.

5) When surfing the web, Use Ctrl + F to find words or numbers on web page if you are searching for something specific.

6) Right click a picture on the web, goto "save as" and most times you can save that photo to your hard drive.

7) Right click that same photo and goto "set as background" will change your desktop picture.

8) This is never said enough, but create a backup system for things on your computer that you would be devastated if lost. AND BACK THEM UP!!!

9) Update your antivirus every week, daily if paranoid. But make sure you do a system scan Atleast once a month. Weekly if your a business. If you do not own a Antivirus you might as well leave your front door open to anyone who walks buy at any time of the day.

10) If your concerned about protecting your data, get a Firewall.

11) If you do a lot of surfing and filling out forms  on different websites, set up a free email account to get all the junk mail... Clean it out once a week. 

12) Only use your main email for friends and family as well as Important business.

13) MANY REPUTABLE EMAIL CLIENTS ALSO ALLOW YOU TO FILTER JUNK MAIL FOR FREE.

14) If you put icons on your desktop, right click and goto properties. In this area, look for the "Shortcut Key" Type in your shortcut letter or key, then you can open your program by just doing Crtl+Alt+Letter/Key.

15) Create your set ups with a Partitioned hard drive. Load all your programs and what nots on Drive C, then save all your data to the partition. That way if you get a virus, you can rebuild the software without losing any data.

16) Rarely if ever have I seen a Virus jump the partition to an unshared drive. Therefore, do not share drive on a network unless you put a password in to protect from unauthorized access or stealing...

17) Surfing the net and want to get to the end of the or bottom of web page? Just hit the "end", and it takes you to the bottom, "home" Brings you back to the top!

18) Made an online order, and want to save the receipt page? Goto File and save as, then put the web page in a folder for future reference.

19) Want to improve performance of your internet surfing? Add more memory! follow link below to find out what kind of memory fits your computer.

20) It must be repeated for keeping your computer healthy. Goto >>> my computer  >>> Right click the C Drive >>> Go to properties.

21) You can set Items to automatically run at a certain time of day with Windows Utilities

22) Antivirus should run once a week and update automatically .

23) Spyware Removal Program should be run daily until you find what sites are infecting your system

24) Spyware can put child porn and other lecherous info that people surfing the web: will be sent to your computer' when they look to download programs, fill out scams, and before mentioned; furthermore, you will not even see it going on...

25) Be careful with Kazza and other share type programs Notorious for Spyware and using your co0mputer as a host system while online.

26) Watch out for Hijacked Modem!! This is a bad one and can get real costly. Basically your computers gets Hijacked to call a 1-900 type number through your internet sign on screen. People have had to pay phone bills of $80.00 to over $500.00

27) I do computer infestation cleaning be it spyware or virus or the new robots.

28) One more time, Do a data back-up daily of important files. Pictures, Word Documents, and Quickbooks!
